Inside the church, which was founded in 945, there are six large-format paintings, eight stained-glass windows, three frescoes, a retrochoir made of glass, three glass crosses and four candelabra, all of them crafted by Scully. This space, which opened on the 30th of June 2015, also has an introductory interpretation centre devoted to the history of Santa Cecília and the art of Sean Scully. In parallel, the mission of the new Sean Scully Art and Spirituality Institute is to enliven the space by offering activities –silent meditation sessions, lectures, music recitals, concerts, lectures and poetry recitals– which seek to shed light on the ties between art and spirituality.
