The few epigraphic testimonies in the current territory of Girona make this piece, discovered in 1980, one of the most unique on the site. It is a fragment of marble from the Tuscan quarry of Carrara, the same one from which, centuries later, the block for Michelangelo to create David was taken, bearing the following, unfortunately incomplete, inscription, doubtless dedicated to the funeral of Germanicus: [...]O. CAESARI [...]RIS F.
The specialists believe that the full text may have been: GERMANICO CAESARI · TI(berii) CAESARIS F(ilio) · AVGVSTI NEPOTI.
