Sculpture representing a young Ethiopian slave known popularly as “El Negret” (the Black boy)

A bronze sculpture from the 1st-2nd century AD (Early Imperial period) depicting a young Ethiopian slave holding a tray on which lamps and the instruments for lighting them were placed. Popularly known as «El Negret» (Little Black Boy), it was found in the residential part of Tarraco, the remains of which were destroyed during the construction of the modern port of Tarragona. It would have been part of the furniture of a domus.

It is made with the lost wax process.
