During the early twentieth century, traditional pottery production in La Bisbal gradually entered into crisis, influenced by the structural changes that came about as part of the progressive transformation of rural society into an increasingly urban community. This situation, far from seeing business collapse, encouraged the emergence of alternative products, such as decorative ceramics and experiments with extraordinary architectural ceramics.
