The La Galera Pottery Interpretation Centre offers a tour of the whole process of making traditional objects with clay, both at the centre itself and in the near vicinity.
The first part of the permanent exhibition deals with clay as a raw material and the way its mineral components determine the type of objects that can be made. This meant that pottery centres specialised in one kind of item or another. Therefore, they could be used to store water, for cooking or as construction materials. Visitors can also see the production centres of the Terres de l’Ebre that are still in operation and those no longer running, such as Miravet, Tivenys, Ginestar, Benissanet and another in the province of Castellón, Traiguera, as well as the characteristics of their creations. In the last space of this area, visitors are shown the process followed by the potters of La Galera when crafting a piece of pottery, from the moment the clay is collected to when it is turned into material that can be manipulated.
