The altarpiece is divided into three sections and adapted to the form of the apse. 

The top section is semicircular, with two arched strips.

There are five winged figures of angels with aureolas above the columns between the niches in the second section, while the niches are occupied by the four evangelists: the angel (Matthew), lion (Mark), bull (Luke) and eagle (John). 

The lower section has two angels with halos and four wings (cherubim). Two figures in the niches with aureolas hold a cross and an elongated object that could be a sword. They may be saints Peter and Paul with the symbols of their martyrdom.
