The altarpiece was commissioned in 1458 from the painter Jaume Huguet.

The dust-cover, with plant motifs and the escutcheons of Terrassa and Barcelona, frames the altarpiece.

The pinnacle features Christ’s crucifixion, as was common practice in the making of altarpieces.

The iconography relates to the two saints. The main body features saints Abdon and Sennen (Saint Nin and Saint Non), patron saints of farmers, two Roman saints of Persian origin who were widely worshipped. Legend has it that their mortal remains were transported in barrels to a Benedictine monastery in Catalunya del Nord. Scenes from their martyrdom are shown on the side panels.

The doctor saints Cosme and Damian feature on the predella. The panel on the right shows one of their miracles, a leg transplant.
