The visit to the Neolithic Park of La Draga provides a unique chance to learn more about the lives of the first farm workers who lived in Catalonia 7,400 years ago. The complex, occupying a surface area of around 6,000 m2, is located on meadowland by the lakeside and is divided into three large areas:

  • The archaeological area, where digging campaigns are carried out each year, involving students from Catalan universities and others from the rest of the world. As it is a site involving ongoing research it is not possible to access the work areas.
  • The tourist and educational area, which has a reception hall, a teaching room and two sheds for activities, as well as a section with explanatory panels.
  • The Neolithic reconstruction area, where two huts and a barn have been rebuilt. All the elements characteristic of daily life in La Draga can be found inside the reconstructions: wooden tools, basketry, skins, ceramics and so on.

The teaching activities on offer (archery and the use of slings, the milling of cereals, exhibitions of carving with lithic tools, lighting fires, etc.) enable small (and not so small) children to put themselves in the shoes of our Neolithic ancestors for a day.
