Medieval Christian architecture in the border regions was essentially defensive, which meant that the buildings were intended for military use above all else. Any decorative elements were therefore limited to tiny details on windows, doorsand so on. Two of the Torre de la Carrova windows have capitals (now on display at the Terres de l’Ebre Museum) decorated with frankly schematic reliefs of acanthus leaves at the bottom and a rosette with a hint of oriental influence in the middle. It constitutes one of the few examples of Romanesque art in the Terres de l’Ebre region.
