There are a number of elements in The Gallery, like the protagonist’s blank stare, the meticulous description of the objects represented, the corporeality of the figure with a touch of irreality, the empty spaces and the suspended time, which are also present in other works by painters working within the framework of the new European Realism(s). We are referring to the harlequins of Pablo Picasso or Gino Severini, the great figures lost in interiors by Felice Casorati, the sinister children of Cagnaccio di San Pietro or Balthus and the great hieratic portraits of Christian Schad, Georg Schimpf or Carlo Mense.

Feliu Elias, at certain times, even anticipated what we would know as the New German Objectivity.
