The Pla d’Almatà is the largest preserved Andalusine site in Catalonia and one of the principal sites of the ancient al-Àndalus, the country that the Arabs founded on the Iberian Peninsula from the 8th to 15th centuries.
\ \The Pla d’Almatà was the original centre of Balaguer Medina and one of this city’s main districts. The district is made up of a perfectly shaped urban development with residential areas, industrial areas, places of worship and cemeteries. The museum remains in the Archaeological Park are a residential area in which it is possible to visit four houses and two sections of streets.
