The Can Papiol is much more than a house, it is the symbol of an entire family lineage. The austere neoclassical façade conceals opulent salons decorated with every sumptuous detail you may imagine, which at that time welcomed the crème de la crème of local high society.

The house was built by order of Francesc de Papiol i de Padró. It took eleven years to build. Work began in 1790. In constructing this impressive building the heir knew he was leaving the family a legacy and that the architecture would last well beyond the lifetime of the people living there. 

The original structure, distribution and décor of the house have remained intact; however, the itinerary of the visit takes in the ground floor, the mezzanine floor and the first floor, which have been adapted for use as a museum.
