The museum is dedicated to the greatest cellist of all time, Pau Casals (1876-1973). It is in the summer house in Sant Salvador, El Vendrell, where the musician lived until 1939, when he was forced into exile by the Spanish Civil War. The present-day museum was opened in 2001 and shows the splendour of the house and Pau Casals’ life as a person, a musician and an advocate of peace.
\ \A modern museographic presentation respects the original rooms of the house while showing the figure and the work of Pau Casals in an innovative, up-to-date fashion. The music, audiovisuals and original objects give visitors an emotive view of the musician’s life and thoughts, from his childhood to his maturity as a man of peace.
