The town’s mills are two water-driven mediaeval flour mills near Montblanc, between the Rivers Francolí and Anguera. This museum was opened to the public in 1994. La Volta Mill (14th century), one of the largest in Catalonia, has four millstones and has been restored and fitted out to demonstrate the grain grinding process to visitors.

The Xiquet or “Small” Mill dates from the 13th century and only the base of its structure remains.

\ \

The La Volta mill contains a comprehensive exhibition explaining the history and evolution of flour mills from prehistory to the present day. It also includes an extensive list of La Conca de Barberà’s flour mills.

\ \

Thanks to its location on the banks of the River Anguera, the site has a rich variety of riverside flora and fauna.

Visits must be arranged in advance through the Montblanc Municipal Tourist Office.
