The Ethnological Museum of Montseny (MEMGA) was designed at its inception in 1985 to be a centre for the conservation, research and dissemination of the cultural heritage of Montseny. The relationship between the local population and the environment, and the different facets of this relationship, are part of the main lines of work here, as well as repercussions of this relationship in the cultural, social and economic life of the region.

MEMGA is currently located in a 17th century building which has been completely restored, with a floor area covering 1,800 square metres, including fifteen permanent exhibition spaces where visitors can see the material evidence of the different communities who have inhabited the massif throughout history.

The collections include examples of crafts and the beginnings of industrialisation, and there is an extraordinary range of archaeological materials from the 14th to the 16th century, a testimony to the daily lives of the men and women who inhabited Castle Montsoriu during this period.

A visit to the museum also allows visitors to enjoy a spectacular journey through the imaginary, magical world of the mountain, reflected in short films Les dones d'aigua (Water women) and Llegendes del Montseny (Montseny legends).
