The Fishing Museum, located in the heart of the fishing port of Palamós, includes displays showing the relationship between humans and the sea. The museum does this through an open, participatory and interpretative approach, so that visitors feel involved in the story, which revolves around fish and fishing, and so that they leave the museum with a new perspective on this activity.

The Fishing Museum aims to create a dialogue between fishermen and society; it hopes to save centuries-old traditions between people and the sea, and it tries to uncover the fascinating, fragile world of the natural, social and cultural heritage of fishing and fishermen, with an unequivocal position on the future of the industry and marine resources.

These aims are met in a series of facilities in the port of Palamós, which offer services, actions and activities in the fields of conservation, study, dissemination and evaluation of the cultural heritage of fish, fishing and fishermen along the Costa Brava: the permanent exhibition, "Documare" (a documentation centre for fishing and the sea), the Chair of Maritime Studies, the Fishing Boats and the Fish Space featuring a cooking classroom and the opportunity to discover fish species and traditional cuisine.
