The remarkable archaeological wealth of the area was the reason for founding the Gavà Museum in 1978, which has since acquired a prominent role in the protection and promotion of the cultural and natural heritage of the county.

The Museum is organised in three main sections: research, conservation and the promotion of the historical and natural heritage of the local environment, with particular emphasis on the material taken from the prehistoric mines.

The Museum's permanent exhibition ’Gavà, les veus del paisatge’ (Gavà, the voices of the landscape), explains the local landscape and offers a guide to the history of the area in six different spaces, from the geological periods to the present. There are original objects from the site of the prehistoric mines and the Roman harbour at Les Sorres.

The Museum occupies the well-known Torre Lluch, an imposing mansion located within the municipal park.
