The Darder Museum is one of the oldest museums in the Girona region. Founded in 1916, the Museum remained largely unchanged until it was completely renovated, with work starting in 2003. In 2007 the museum opened its doors again, incorporating the natural history collections and with a section dedicated to the phenomenon of the hydrogeological basin in the lake in Banyoles, something which had been attempted many years before.
