Salvador Vilaseca Archaeology Museum

Salvador Vilaseca Anguera (1896-1975), native of Reus, was a doctor and expert on prehistory who accumulated a very important collection of archaeological finds over his lifetime from the many prehistoric and protohistoric sites that he explored and excavated in the counties in the area of Reus. Although Dr. Vilaseca was the founder and the director Municipal Museum of Reus between 1933 and 1975, and later honorary director for life, only the elements of his personal collection which had been found in Reus itself were placed on permanent display there, along with most of the Iberian and Roman artefacts unearthed in the “region” of Reus.

The opening of the Salvador Vilaseca Archaeology Museum (MASV) on the 17th April 1984 was the culmination of one of the most eagerly awaited cultural projects of the Reus government in the 20th century.
