Museum and Municipal Archive of Calella

Since its construction in the 17th century, the building of the Josep M. Codina i Bagué Museum and Municipal Archive of Calella has served several different purposes until it was converted into a major cultural facility for the town.
\
\ The collections it contains trace the history of the town through archaeological materials, household ceramic items, textile machinery, the tools of traditional crafts, clothes and blonde lace, among other pieces. Visitors follow an itinerary that begins with the Roman remains and ends with an explanationof the importance of the textile industry for the city. Many of the town’s families have donated textiles, from embroidery and bobbin lace to historical jackets.
\
\ One of the museum’s highlights is the Catalan modernista Barri pharmacy, which has conserved its apothecary’s pots, precision balances, mortars and densimeters. At the back of the shop, furthermore, there are ceramic pots, flasks and glass tubes.
