A little history ...

This pre-Romanesque chapel has been overhauled several times over the years and has served different purposes since the 10^th century. From 1580 to 1607, it was closed for worship because it was in very bad condition and had been defiled by a bloody crime. In 1607, however, it was restored and reopened for worship.

After 1776, it was forbidden to hold mass here because of its poor condition and the fact that it had been used for several non-sacred applications: a municipal council hall, a girls’ school and a remand centre.
