Joan Brossa was a member of the Dau al Set group, along with Arnau Puig, Tàpies, Ponç, Cuixart and Tharrats. Although Joan Abelló himself was not part of the Dau al Set, he was very interested in the work of these artists. This is why the Foundation has an outstanding collection of the Dau al Set.
At the same time, Brossa and Abelló became friends. Meetings between the two artists were frequent, and Brossa even premièred a play, Here in the forest, at the painter’s house in 1962.
A particular highlight is the work Experimental poem (1947), a collage made up of disordered syllables and needles on a white paper. This combination of objects and fragments of words led the author to enter into the world of visual poetry.
