Benet was one of the promoters of the artistic atmosphere in the town. His relationship with Tossa started in 1927. Painter and art critic Rafael Benet published an article entitled "Tossa, the Babel of the Arts" in the magazine "Art 1934", with makes an exhaustive list of all the artists who lived on the town, and the artistic atmosphere that permeated Tossa in the early 1930s. In Tossa he painted beaches, gatherings and especially the Cafe d'en Biel, meeting place for artists in Tossa.
