Maritime heritage.

Today’s El Masnou today is very different from the trading and seafaring town of past centuries. The elements that keep the maritime traditions of the town alive are industrial activities related with sailing: the Port Esportiu and sports clubs such as Club Nàutic El Masnou and Club Ocata Vent. The town’s fishing tradition also still continues.

The museum exhibits the different types of fishing tackle used up to the present day, with a large set of items related with this activity. The most common type of fishing practised in El Masnou was for inkfish, squid, bogue, lobster, mullet, sea bream, conger and other types of fish.

Today, a small part of the port of El Masnou is set aside for the town’s fishermen who belong to the Confraria I Pòsit fleeted Pescadors Verge del Carme of Montgat, El Masnou and Premià de Mar.

There is also a collection of fishing items that were donated by people from the town.

Finally, there is a sectiondevoted to all the activities related with holidaymakers and bathers who occupy the beaches of El Masnou in the summer months.
