This jar was recovered from the interior of a tomb in the Roman necropolis on Carrer de Colom. It is evidence of a Roman funeral belief that the shadow of the deceased person continued to live in the interior of the tomb, so that family and friends would leave food and drink at the time of the entombment and during the annual mourning ceremonies in honour of the departed.
