The characteristic roof of Iberian houses was made from local raw materials. The construction system consisted of leaning tree trunks against the walls like vertical beams, on which a dense network of branches or reeds tied together was placed. To waterproof the mesh, a thick layer of mud was then spread over the top. The Roman influence introduced a new type of roof, which can be seen on the house next door.
