16. Krater



This krater reflects the high technical level Iberian potters attained. Firing in a reducing atmosphere (without oxygen) creates this characteristic grey colour. Moreover, the burnished treatment of the surface endows  it with an almost metallic aspect. Despite the originality of the piece, almost unique, it is actually a copy inspired by Greek models. Originally, these kraters were conceived as containers for mixing wine with water.
