This is one of only a few public collections where it is possible to follow the evolution of various early photographic techniques: the Daguerreotype, the Ambrotype and the Ferrotype. There are a total of 90 images, some of extremely high quality. The name “daguerreotype” comes from its French inventor, Louis-Jacques Mandé Daguerre. This invention was habitual in photography from 1839 to 1860.
