This section was originally called the Sentimental Museum by Frederic Marès. The current name, Sala Femenina, seeks to revive the tradition of early Collector’s Cabinets featuring antiques and curios. The visit takes us through 17 galleries, where we find thousands of odd and entertaining objects reflecting the life and customs of the past, with emphasis on the 19th century. Many aspects have been retained from the original section, including the layout of the collections, the terms Marès gave to the rooms, the varied presentation of the objects and the intimate atmosphere of the galleries, revealing to visitors the fascinating world of collecting.
