Given the importance of their function, baptismal fonts were properly used and carefully conserved. The inner walls of this font are decorated with profuse plant motifs. The outer face has no decoration because the item was kept inside the ancient stone baptismal font. Ceramic was more water-resistant and allowed for richer decoration. The type of drawing suggests that this piece might have been made by Lorenzo of Madrid, a ceramist who settled in Catalonia at the end of the 16th century and who was also the creator of some tiles for the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
