This processional cross, together with those at Girona cathedral and at Santa Maria de Vilabertran, is one of the oldest examples of Catalan Gothic silver work. All three were made in Girona, and have the same trapezoid form with circular medallions in clear reference to the Roman and Romanesque tradition of triumphal crosses. They all share the same time frame within the first third of the 14th century. Note the the remarkable quality of the enamel work, applied to the centre and the medallions.
