Amphora attributed to the painter of Saint-Audries, 4th century BC, from the tombs of Etruria (Italy). Vic Episcopal Museum.

The amphora, which was used to transport and serve liquids, is covered with reddish-black varnish except for the areas where the main subject is displayed: the departure of a chariot. A charioteer on the right, dressed in a long tunic and standing on the chariot, holds the horses’ reins and is ready to leave. To the left, a young nude man with a spear bids him farewell. A bird flies between the chariot and the horses. A line of linked double palm leaves runs across the top of the scene. There are three very similar examples attributed to the same painter, in the Metropolitan Museum of New York
