The diverse nature of the works of art collected by Antoni Deu (1918 - 2001) throughout his life make up an ensemble that is inseparable from the sensitivity and zeal that characterises all collectors. His personal criteria distinguish his whole legacy, in which it is impossible to find either thematic or chronologic unity. The collection is defined by its diversity, at the same time as it can be linked to the tradition of the great Catalan collectors such as Víctor Balaguer, Eduard Toda and Frederic Marés. From religious carvings to modern sculpture, from paintings and drawings to the oriental carpet collection, from salvers and mortars to period furniture, from Modernist glassware to contemporary pottery, this is a collection that, despite the difficulties in displaying it in a museum format, has been kept as a whole to allow the visitor to understand the aspirations and intimate feelings of the collector.
