The diable was driven by a belt connecting it to the busbar. Fabrica dera lan (Vielha). Musèu dera Val d'Aran.

The diable was responsible for opening and separating the tufts of wool, i.e., the first combing.

The wool was placed on the conveyor belt and was washed with a little low quality oil, which helped it to move more smoothly during the combing process. The belt introduced the wool into the box, where two toothed cylinders combed the wool, which came out of a hole in the rear after it was carded.

This dangerous machine was named  diable, or ‘devil’ due to the number of accidents it caused workers.
