The sifter was used for sieving the milled flour that was intended for making bread.

This unit was equipped with an opening at the top where the flour was poured. It then fell into an inner drum which filtered the different flour thicknesses using a mesh. The finer flour fell inside the cabinet and was collected by a sheet, while the coarser came out through a hole on the right side. The drum was moved manually by turning a crank located on the right side of the sifter.
