Every year the village of Arties holds its local festival for St John, with a mass in the church.

The church of Sant Joan of Arties is one of two churches preserved in the village of Arties. It is a 13th-century Gothic church with a single nave, with a chancel of three polygonal apses covered with ribs in the apses and the first two sections of the nave.

The church fell out of use after being used for different purposes at the end of the Civil War. It was finally restored and in 1988 became a temporary exhibition hall, with the opening of the first exhibition, "Es gascons e era musica", organized by the Museum of the Val d'Aran.

Today, you can see numerous exhibitions in this room showcasing various aspects of the Aranese tradition, culture and history, as well as other fields of knowledge, art shows, etc. It has become a multipurpose space where seminars, lectures and courses are also held to complement the items on display.
