The Francis turbine is perfect for small waterfalls in wide rivers with gentle and slight slopes. The amount of water that enters the turbine, and therefore the pressure transmitted to the runner, is controlled by manually-operated blades with a regulator, thus maintaining a constant rotational speed. This circular motion is transmitted to the vertical axis and from there to the drive shafts. The Francis turbine at the Ter Museum currently produces electricity.
