The company Miquel, Vincke & Meyer began to manufacture cork and fabric pith helmets in around 1910. The insulation provided by cork fostered the use of these helmets in extreme climates. The Central Chief of Staff of the army in Madrid and the army of Great Britain were two of the company’s most important clients. In addition to pith helmets, they also manufactured others kinds of helmets, even surprising ones such as ‘tricornes’ and helmets for parachutists, motorcyclists, firefighters, Spain’s urban police force and British bobbies.
