Meccano was sold in boxes that contained a "set" of several pieces that enabled various constructions (cranes, automobiles, buildings, clocks, bridges) to be made. With set number 7, for example, you could build up to 899 different models. On the other hand, odd pieces could be bought to expand the set or replace parts. The 1930 display cabinet, from the Le Paquebot Normandie toy store in Paris, exhibited Meccano pieces that were sold separately. This is why the front part is a showcase with the different parts on display, while at the back there were five drawers where the stock was kept.
