From an iconographic point of view, the stigmatisation of St. Francis of Assisi is the most important episode in his life and one of the most popular. The famous stigmatisation, the sudden impression of the holy wounds of Christ on his body, hands, feet and the sides of the saint, took place around the feast of the raising of the cross in 1224.

On the other hand, the iconography of St. Augustine, one of the great Fathers of the Church, is common: middle-aged and beardless, he is dressed in the pontifical adornments, clenching hold of a staff while holding a model of a church as one of its founders.
