The shape of this wall panel takes its name from the location it occupies in the halls and drawing rooms of palaces and homes of the wealthy. They are pieces, as its name suggests, designed to be placed flush against the wall, as a decorative piece or as a base to highlight some other decorative object of value.

This panel is entirely baroque in appearance. The rigidity and the symmetry of the cut, as well as the decoration of the panel, where there is a deck of Spanish playing cards, are two of the aspects that indicate that it is a piece of furniture made in a Spanish workshop, possibly in Castile or Aragon.
