The shape and decoration of this simple bottle for serving wine are in tune with the spirit of Chinese porcelain from the Kangxi period (1662-1722), of the Qing Dynasty, informed by a concept based on the balance between plain and decorated spaces. To achieve this, they used sequences of geometric elements with a tendency towards symmetry interspersed among large spaces left blank.
This bottle has a type of decoration called punta Bérain, arranged in a circle in three sections of the piece. Jean Bérain had been Louis XV’s decorator and had created several ornamental models, some more complex than others.
