It was common to find wafer-makers in the squares and streets of the village who sold sweet wafers in different shapes. This was one of the receptacles that was used to store, transport and sell wafers. It held between 5 and 6 kilos.
The upper lid has a roulette wheel (with numbers 1-10) which was spun by pushing it with the hand. When someone gave a coin to the wandering wafer-maker, he spun the roulette and, if the participant picked the winning number, they would get a wafer.
There were similar receptacles to hold carquinyolis or cracknel cookies, the traditional sweets of L’Espluga de Francolí.
