Collection of dried, pressed plants systematically organised with both the local and scientific names, most of them used for research or teaching.

These plants are conserved for a long time and serve as a bank of information representing the flora or vegetation of a given region.

To make a herbarium, first the plants collected in the countryside have to been dried and dehydrated under pressure. Then they are placed between sheets of paper, usually newsprint. Finally, a weight is placed on top of them to press them flat.
