Gold tremissis from the time of Egica-Vitiza, minted in Tarragona, make up the set of coins found at the Bovalar site. This exceptional archaeological find consists of twenty Visigothic gold tremissis that were uncovered from different rooms of the settlement, and they present us with a rather brief chronology of the Visigoth rulers of those days: from Egica (687-702 AD) to Akhila II (710-713/714 AD). The period from which these coins come, the end of the seventh and beginning of the eighth centuries, was a time of considerable political instability in Visigothic Hispania.
