The Museum of the Mediterranean aims to be a 21st century museum. It was designed as a participatory space, open to everyone and anyone, that allows visitors to discovery the Mediterranean with all five senses, led mainly by sounds and music. The sounds reflect the natural Mediterranean, while the music is testimony to the role people have played in the region.
The exhibition begins with a room that has a map of the Mediterranean in the background, and is full of quotes from thinkers who invite us to reflect before starting the visit. There are many towns and cities around the Mediterranean, each with its own culture, but they all are united by the same heritage and identity.
The people who live there share a founding culture with traditions that are common around the Mediterranean, the result of uninterrupted exchange. They are the sons and daughters of the same sea.
