A magnificent portrait by Francesc Gimeno of his neighbour, Pilar Solans. This picture denotes a masterful treatment of white, the source of all the light in the composition. At this time Gimeno’s compositions, rich in colour and characterised by increasingly more liberal brushstrokes, were of a modernity comparable to that of Vincent van Gogh. A metamorphosis of his work that, by and large, is fruit of his work on the atmosphere and landscape of the Empordà.
