Between 1928 and 1930 Ángeles painted some of the most iconic works of his career: Un món (A world), La tertúlia (The discussion) and La Terra (The earth). During this period his work was exhibited in Madrid and it dazzled García Lorca, Gómez de la Serna and art critics of the time, and elevated the artist to the status of avant-garde painter, beside Maruja Mallo and Remedios Varo. In La Terra (The Earth), everything happens and nothing just happened. Night and day, and life represented through the daily routine of the inhabitants of a magical, metaphorical world, but with death ever-present.
