A chest with legs rough-hewn with an adze and wrought iron strips in trefoil forms, a typical feature of furniture from medieval times.

The whole chest is covered with parchment painted with ‘mini’ pigment, which gives it an orangey tone. The leather protected the wood from insects and the weather.

The handles were needed to carry the chest. However, none of the preserved iconographic representations depicting a chest of this kind comes in the context of travel, quite the contrary; they come in a private context, alongside a bed or inside a room.
