The photographer Josep Esquirol i Pérez (1874-1931) immortalised everyday life in L'Escada in the late 19th and early 20th century. One of his most popular series of photographs is Caps d'estudi (Headshots), showing portraits of former fishermen sitting on the side of Si no fos, and Menut Petot, showing a fisherman dressed in waterproof clothing and smoking a pipe, which has become the image of fisherman in the early 20th century. Almost three thousand glass plate negatives by Josep Esquirol are held in the archives.
